Isaac and Jesus carried the wood for the sacrifice of their own lives, albeit Isaac unwittingly and Jesus, knowingly and willingly.
Abraham offered his only son as a sacrifice, as did God.
Like Abel before him, who offered the first and best of his fruits to God, God our Father offered his first and best fruit, his only begotten Son, who gave his life to us and for us.
